After any body treatments your mind and body are in a relaxed state, follow the suggested aftercare advice:

  • Drink plenty of water after your treatment. You may feel thirst and need to go to the toilet more often. This helps with dehydration, lost fluids and reduces fatigue.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine for 12 hours, as they have dehydrating properties.
  • Don’t over-push yourself as it is not unusual to feel tired and sleepy.
  • Avoid strenuous activity for the next 12 hours, to help your body relax and de-stress further.
  • Don’t over eat – eat lightly and nutritiously. This will cause blood to be diverted to the gut to help with the digestion of food. This will divert energy away from the healing process.
  • You may experience aching muscles after massage – soreness and sluggishness are all normal after effects of a good massage.
  • You may feel tired or sleepy – It is recommended that you get at least 8 hours of sleep.
  • Take care when driving as you may not be as alert after your treatment.
  • You may experience heightened emotions – As your body relaxes, it’s normal for it to release any emotional baggage it’s holding onto. While on one occasion you might feel elated, refreshed and energised, there may be other times when you feel the need to cry. This is okay. Embrace it. Allow it to happen.

After receiving a Hopi Ear Candling treatment it is perfectly normal to experience the following:

  • Runny nose – please blow it rather than sniffing.
  • Sticky feeling within the ears or the loosing of ear wax.
  • Headache or slight dizziness.
  • Slight dryness in the throat.

You may also experience:

  • Improvement in clarity of sound. Lighter feeling in the head and face due to sinus pressure relief.

Aftercare:

  • Ear wax/residue may naturally work its way out of the ear over the following 24-48 hours, this is normal
  • Do not submerge your head under water for 24 hours after your treatment and try to avoid cold air blowing into your ears.
  • Do not insert anything, including cotton buds inside your ears.
  • Drinking plenty of water, squash or herbal teas to help eliminate toxins and flush out the lymphatic system.
  • If you had a bit of a cold at the time of your treatment please note your symptoms may get worse

After your treatment follow the aftercare advice:

  • Don’t wear make-up following a facial for 24 hours. This will ensure that you benefit fully from the products used during the facial, as well as prevent blocked pores (as these will be quite open following the treatment).
  • Avoid other facial treatments – waxing, eyelash/eyebrow tinting etc for at least 48 hours. These may irritate or aggravate exfoliating skin.
  • Care for your skin. Avoid sunbathing and sunbeds for the next 24 hours as you may have slightly more sensitive skin. Likewise, avoid making your face particularly warm, such as by going in a sauna, hot tub or bath.
  • I also recommend that you don’t use perfumed or exfoliating products on your face for a couple of days following a facial, again because your skin may be more sensitive than usual. You can use an SPF sunscreen.
  • Between facials, there are things you can do to help the look and health of your face. Cleanse, tone and moisturise your face daily, as this will help to ensure make-up doesn’t damage your skin, as well as help to rehydrate it from the drying effects of daily life. Exfoliate and use a facial mask once a week. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen daily to stops the harmful UV rays and premature aging.
  • Drink plenty of water after your treatment. You may feel thirst and need to go to the toilet more often. This helps with dehydration, lost fluids, reduces fatigue, as well as helps eliminate toxins from your body.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine containing beverage for 12 hours, as they have dehydrating properties.

Slight soreness, small bumps and redness is very common and perfectly normal temporary reaction, particularly if it’s your first wax. You can apply aloe vera gel and/or ice to the treated area following your treatment to help alleviate these.

After your treatment follow the aftercare advice:

  • Keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction during the next 24-48 hours.
  • No hot baths or showers (cool to lukewarm water only)
  • No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments.
  • No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans)
  • Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid swimming or chlorinated pools.
  • Do not use perfumed products on the treated area for 48 hours.
  • Do not undertake any other skincare treatments with 48 hours of having waxing treatment.
  • Exfoliate waxed area once to twice a week to stop in-growing hairs.

You may notice a small amount of hair growth after a week or so. It can take up to four treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives you the best results. Hair needs to be at least 5mm long before it can be successfully removed by waxing. Book in for regular treatments every 4-6 weeks.

After your treatment follow the aftercare advice:

  • Be gentle with your lashes; no rubbing.
  • Do not get your lashes wet for the first 24 hrs as they may drop.
  • Do not use harsh products on your eyes/lashes.
  • Use of Sauna/Steam may weaken the effect of the lift so avoid for 24 hrs.
  • No eye make up for 24 hours.
  • Avoid waterproof mascara’s.
  • Swimming should be avoided for at least 24hrs.
  • If redness or irritation occurs apply a cool damp cotton compress to the eye area.
  • No other facial beauty treatments for 24hrs.
  • Do not sleep on your face for 24 hrs.
  • Avoid hot water or steam on the face or near the eyes.
  • Do not use oil based products or any conditioning treatments/ serums on the lashes.
  • Strong sunlight/UV light can make the tint colour fade faster.
  • Do not apply makeup or mascara to lashes or receive any other eye treatments for at least 24 hours after the lash or brow tinting treatment.

After your treatment follow the aftercare advice:

  • Apply hand cream regularly
  • Rubber gloves should be worn as water and detergents will weaken your nails and have a drying effect on the skin.
  • Drink plenty of water as it helps to strengthen your nails and hydrates your skin.
  • Massage cuticles with a cuticle oil or cream regularly.
  • Smooth rough edges of broken or split nails straight away with a good quality nail file, and always file straight across in one direction.
  • Use a non-acetone varnish remover.
  • Buff the nails to a healthy shine regularly to stimulate the blood supply to the nails and encourage nail growth.

After your treatment follow the aftercare advice:

  • Apply a good cuticle cream and foot cream regularly.
  • Nails should be cut straight across using well maintained sharp clippers.  The best time to clip them is when the nails are softer as they are following a bath or foot soak.
  • Use a non-acetone varnish remover.
  • Make it a habit to use a pumice stone or foot file on damp heels and calluses.
  • Gently push back cuticles rather than cut them, as this can lead to an infection.
  • Go barefoot wherever it is safe and practical to do so.
  • Avoid wearing high heels for long periods of time.  The can cause postural problems and increase hard skin callus formation.
  • Drink plenty of water to keep the skin and nails hydrated.
  • Smooth rough edges of broken or split nails straight away with a good quality nail file, and always file straight across in one direction.
  • Buff the nails to a healthy shine regularly to stimulate the blood supply to the nails and encourage nail growth.
